Horrible experience at ER
I just got to the ER and the security guard stopped me at the door. He said I couldn’t take my wheelchair bag in. I told him I had medical items in it for my disability and he said no exceptions and to just keep it in my pockets. I said I didn’t have pockets. He would not budge. He made me open up the bag and empty it, including my wheelchair gloves. I said I needed those, he said “well you didn’t need them a minute ago” ??????? I literally just got there. He ended up calling the charge nurse who was really condescending. I said I had medicine in my bag that I needed to have access to, but when I opened it to show him the contents he saw I also had like a pen and granola bar and my iPad (where I keep all my medical records) and said “well clearly not ONLY medicine” and made me give it all over. He was like “if we make an exception for you then we have to make an exception for everyone.”
At that point I was pretty much unable to communicate and my sister had to talk them into giving us a plastic bag for my stuff, which I can’t carry myself when she has to leave after I get checked in. I asked the security guard for my wheelchair gloves back and he gave us a hard time. It took like 15-20 mins to get through all that before I was finally able to get to intake and the whole thing triggered a medical episode that was separate from the reason I’m even here. Now I’m in the waiting room trying to calm down because what the fuck what the fuck what the fuck
