Am I still able to activate my JD26 code even though my Switch is set as secondary?

For context almost 2 years ago my Switch broke so I got a new one that Christmas. Ever since then though it's been set to Secondary and it doesn't even let me buy JD+. So question: will I be able to activate my code in the eShop? Also I've had the game box w/ code since December so will it even still work?
