I really want to move. I currently live in the NYC area and have been here for over 7 years now. It was fun for a while, but now I’m married and have a sweetie pie baby and I can’t help but daydream about leaving this area.

I’m a Midwest girlie and ideally I’d love to move back. Houses are actually within my budget and all I want is a home of my own. I want space, I want a backyard, I want a garden. I’m sick of paying thousands in rent for a shoebox of an apartment and now that my lease is about to be up and I’m looking at apartments, my heart is sinking because I want to leave so badly and I don’t want to pay $4000 in rent every month. We both make decent money, but not decent enough to afford a house in the metro NYC area.

My husband however wants to stay in New York. Our community is here, our friends, his job (I WFH). He thinks I won’t be happy if we move because I won’t have my friends or connections I’ve built over my time in NY. But I honestly think my happiness would be improved by having a house of my own!!! Having space!! Not overpaying for literally everything!! We’d also be within drivable distance to my family (his family is in a different country altogether) and it would be nice for my baby to spend more time with her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins than a once a year visit.

Idk I’m just feeling very stuck and sad about it.

Dinner is a kale salad with nectarines, bresaola, cucumber, pickled onion, tomatoes, sunflower seeds, and a homemade balsamic vinaigrette.
