Dentist submitted claim higher than what I was told the amount would be.
Got a root canal done early June by an endo, then saw my dentist for the crown 5 days later.
The dentist said the total cost of the crown will be 1,050 and since my root canal procedure costed over $1K and assumed that my insurance is now maxed ($1,000 yearly maximum payout) I had to pay out of pocket for the crown.
Today I’m looking at my dental insurance online through the portal and saw that the dentist submitted a claim to my insurance for $1700. And the insurance covered $600 of that.
My endodontist claim is still pending. I’m afraid since the dentist took $600 out of my $1K max, the endo will come after me.
Why did the dentist tell me the crown will cost $1,050 but submit a $1700 claim to my insurance??
