What Would You Choose With a 170 Cutoff in Chennai?

Hi all,

My daughter finished her 12th and we've applied for TNEA counselling.

We're from Chennai and her dad is very particular that she studies somewhere in Chennai or nearby, so we're mainly looking at colleges around the city.

Her cutoff is around 170. We've been checking colleges and departments for the last few days and honestly it's getting confusing with so many options.

Can anyone suggest which colleges are worth considering for this cutoff? Also, which departments would be a better choice these days in terms of placements and future opportunities?

She's open to ECE, EEE, IT, AI & DS, Mechanical, Civil and similar branches. The only branch she's not really interested in is Biotech.

Would really appreciate advice from parents, recent graduates or students who went through TNEA counselling recently. What colleges would you keep in the preference list if you were in our position?
