Gen Z, shifting after grad. What to do?
Hello! I'm seeking advice because I'm seriously considering shifting careers after graduation.
I'm a graduating student from a railway engineering-related course, and lately I've been considering shifting into data (GIS or business-focused roles) or supply chain analytics. Hindi ko pa alam exactly which path, pero alam kong ayoko nang magpursue ng career sa industry related sa course ko.
Na-realize ko kasi through my internships na although I enjoy the math and analytical side of my course, hindi ko nakikita yung sarili ko working in the industry long-term. Napansin ko na I didn't like designing, doing inspection, and technical/labor work related to it. Limited din yung opportunities, and honestly wala akong excitement kapag iniisip kong dito ako magwo-work after grad.
For those who shifted to a completely different field after graduation:
- Paano kayo nagsimula?
- How did you break into the industry and build connections?
- Did life get better after the shift, or do you have any regrets?
- Any lessons or advice you wish someone told you before you graduated?
- For those in data or supply chain, may companies ba na willing mag-hire ng fresh grads from unrelated degrees as long as they have the skills and willingness to learn?
Would really appreciate any advice or personal experiences. Thank you po!
