Has anyone ever regretted not giving a relationship more time?

I (25F) dated a guy (26M) briefly about a year ago.

I liked him. There was attraction, chemistry, and he had a lot of qualities I’d want in a partner. But we were quite different in personality and lifestyle, and I spent a lot of time questioning whether we were actually compatible long term.

Looking back, I think I came across as more hesitant than I really was. I liked him, but I was so focused on figuring out whether he was right for me that I never really let myself just see where things went.

Around that time, some family issues came up and I had to head home for a few weeks. We lost momentum, stopped talking, and never really reconnected. Eventually he unfollowed me online and that was that.

At the time, I thought I was making the right decision.

A year later, I’m not so sure.

I’ve learned a lot about myself and dating since then, and I sometimes wonder whether I was looking for certainty too early. Maybe my instincts were right and we genuinely weren’t a good fit. Or maybe I walked away from something that simply needed more time to grow.

Has anyone else ever had someone like that? Someone you felt okay walking away from at the time, only to wonder later whether you got it wrong?
