Kim Soleum has changed a lot (Spoilers up to ch.316)

In the beginning of the novel, Kse was a scaredy cat and his inner dialogue was very expressive. I will refer to Kse in the beginning as Og Kse.

Then in Looky Mart, he chops off his arm and barbecues it which is something that (imo) Og Kse would never have done and he seemed so aloof about it too. HE LITERALLY CHOPPED OFF HIS ARM! Although he had done some things to hurt himself before, like filling up some of Braun’s bathtub with his own blood, before Looky Mart he never gave himself injuries with long term consequences (that I’m aware of).

After the Dream Incubator confrontation, Kse is taken into the Glass Dome Prison and he doesn’t eat or anything. He ends up escaping and ends up giving Fox director the information then he drinks his wish potion.

Post 208, he becomes emotionless after turning into 130666. He no longer had a way back home. His inner dialogue becomes much shorter and it’s stripped of all his personality.

Even when he does end up getting his sense of self back when they enter Sekwang City, he’s still a lot duller.

Skip forward to when he gets his human body back with help of the mood lamp given to him by Lizard. It was so sad that when he got his body back he was just happy that he could have a conversation with people again.

Then in the Blood Broadcasting station, he tries to lease a spot by borrowing from Braun. He tries to pay for most of it in his own blood so that he could get as many items as possible, and when I saw he wants to pay with his own blood I mean he wants to drain his body of his blood. (TT)

When he went into a darkness with a few others and his cat mask, he was so happy again—then he remembered he was a coward. It was refreshing to see our old Kse, but he still felt so off compared to before.

Then of course he finds out about the syrup and he switches up. Og Kse was absolutely flabbergasted by the idea of clearing 200 B class ghost stories to get his wish ticket, but now he was willing to clear the entire Sekwang City darkness just to get enough dream essence. He’s obsessed with the idea of going home.

Then in Scales of Tribunal, Kse had to put the thing that he loved the most on the scale, it wasn’t his home. It was his pop socket. The thing that he valued the most above all else is the method of going home. He was ready to die, but Bronze and Choi intervened which made them all get roped into a huge trial for Kse where he is confronted by all of his different contaminations with parts of himself which he had hidden away.

So… is it just me or is he like really really different? Like he got way more depressed to the point where he barely cares about himself anymore… Also, Braun seems a lot different now too…
