Noticeable examples of characters' personality or traits varying heavily based on their writers (mood)?
I'm talking about when a character seems to constantly/noticeably go back and forth between characterizations with no seeming pattern. The prime example for me is Yujiro Hanma from Baki the Grappler. He was always physically a monster, but in the first series (Grappler Baki) he was also morally one as well - he raped Jack's mother, killed Baki's mother in front of Baki, was an unrepentant murder and just all-around arrogant dickhead. You were clearly supposed to hate him and root for Baki to eventually beat and humble him. Then in New Grappler Baki and Baki: Son of an Ogre, Yujiro was portrayed as more complicated and nuanced - he could be philosophical, hold polite conversation, capable of respecting others he saw as worthy opponents, and was even woke (he litterally praised Muhammaed Ali for the latter's efforts in helping the African American community). His relationship with Baki was also portrayed as less straight-forwardly antagonistic or more complex. Now, I haven't really read/watched past the end of Son of an Ogre, but based on what I've seen, Yujiro's back to being a morally reprehensible monster and douchebag, but now its seemingly played more for dark comedy - like, you're supposed to laugh when he casually threatens to (and most likely does) rape legally distinct Donald Trump and Elon Musk and their entire security team, or when it gets revealed that Yujiro raped a man and traumatized him so much that he's (the other man) become a daredevil constantly doing all sorts of crazy, near suicidal shit to reclaim his masculinity.
Any other noticeable examples of a character just swapping back and forth between personality and presentation in a way that's very noticeable and distracting?
