Hey All,
Pretty much brand new to lawn care. I recently got my first home and have been having some serious issues with the grass. If I could drop 20k+ on turf i would do it in a heartbeat just to save myself the hassle, but maybe that’s something to look into years down the road.

I’m still learning how to mow properly and i like trimming bushes, plants, grass, etc. Even if i do a bad job at least i can say “i did that” plus it’s nice to get some sun.

But now it’s getting to the point that i think a combination of my mowing and watering/sprinkler “skills” are costing my lawn and costing me money.

So much so that i’ve hired trugreen to get rid of weeds/make grass greener. I know there’s a lot of hate with them but imo i’ve seen positive results, (mostly) after 1-2 applications.

I also hired a friend of a friend who helped me dial in the sprinklers around the home. He taught me little tips and tricks and confirmed that i have fescue grass throughout the whole lawn

But now fast forward a few weeks from my last trugreen application and that FOAF fixing all my sprinklers i’ve noticed this (pictures attached)

On a separate note i see signs of scalping in the front yard probably a combination of lackluster mowing skills and understanding of grass maintenance as a whole or maybe just a water issue, as TruGreen would put it.

I water this particular spot 10 mins M-F around 4-4:30am. If this is more than a watering issue what else could it be and what should i do next. I’m worried the front lawn is going to start looking like this soon too.

If you read all this thank you. Any advice would be appreciated.
