Greatest What If's in Hip-Hop

Removed: Daily Discussion Thread Topic

To preface, let's not include MCs that passed prematurely. Those are obvious What Ifs.

I bring this up because of something Jin da MC said on his newly launched podcast (link below). The rumor that had been out there for many years was seemingly confirmed by Jin himself, that Roc-A-Fella didn't clear "I Got A Love" (Jin ft. Kanye) to be the lead single for his Debut on Ruff Ryders "The Rest Is History". Now, imagine a world where "I Got A Love", with a CLASSIC Kanye beat, a smooth Kanye hook, and Jin killing the verses, is the lead single instead of "Learn Chinese". It's a cult classic record, "Learn Chinese", and it still bangs, don't get me wrong, but Jin was already fighting a tough battle being the only Asian Rapper in the Industry, now his first introduction, post Freestyle Friday, to the masses, is a record that leans WAY TOO HEAVY into the Asian gimmick. It pigeon holed him immediately. What If the Kanye record comes out first, then "Learn Chinese". In my Hip-Hop nerd mind, Jin goes from a one and done, dropped from the label immediately, to an MC that people wanna invest in. He can do a soulful Kanye record, and a boom bap, banging, Wyclef record, you know what I'm saying. I loved Jin as a kid. Never understood why he didn't get the chance to develop under a Major Label. Just something I had on my mind after hearing this podcast. What y'all think?
