Welcome everybody!

This is brand new, so right now it's just me and whoever stumbles in next. I'm hoping that won't be the case for long.

I started this because I've been in Jacksonville for 2 years and somewhere along the way my, and my wife's, social life basically shrank down to our dog and sporadic family phone calls. Nothing wrong with that, but it's not really the same as having people you'd text on a random Tuesday.

If you're 35 or older, live in or around Jax, and feel like your circle could use a few more people in it, you're in the right place. The plan is pretty simple: talk about life here, find things to do, and maybe actually meet some of these people in person eventually.

Instead of commenting on everyday things like traffic, city incidents, or other stuff that r/jacksonville is already covering...try to stick with posts that get people talking with the intention of befriending others. No pressure to do anything fancy. You can just say hi if you want.

If you want to elaborate, maybe mention where in Jacksonville are you, and what's something you've been wanting to do but haven't had anyone to do it with? Or maybe an event you'd like to attend but don't want to do so alone.
