Victoria High Country Roadtrip

We're thinking about driving up and spending some time in the Victorian High Country and we know nothing about the area except its beauty and what we saw on "The Man from Snowy River" movie in the 80s. We have a normal everyday car so won't be looking to go offroad or camping. We're not experiences hikers but love to take in the scenery and also local food and drinks. Would anyone be able to do a recommendation of what/where we should stay and what to do during the days to make the most of the visit. We would really appreciate some advice as we don't want to miss the must dos. Would be grateful even for a suggested route coming from the north down. Thankyou
