Or at least an uncanny parallel. In 1420, a Songhay physician who had been a practicing physician in Toulouse since 1403, saved the life of a young Charles de Valois (b. 1403), the heir to the French throne. King Charles VII made Aben Ali a physician to the French court until 1465.

“It is also reported that following Ysalguier, a eunuch and master African healer named Aben Ali would have settled in Toulouse, much to the chagrin of local Christian doctors. He would have been the only one to obtain in March 1420 the cure of the future King Charles VII (1403-1461), who fell seriously ill in Toulouse. Subsequently, he died poisoned by his fellow jealous. If the existence of this healer could not be proved either, the disease of the successor of the throne seems to be an established fact.”

[KCD2] Musa of Mali is apparently based on a real figure.
