A little help?

So I’m pretty new to this game… just started a few days ago, and I just can’t figure out how to clean the oil?? Every time I make my sheep stand on the water, there’s no oil icon above the sheep. Only the grazing icon is there. Is there something else I have to do beforehand to make it show?
