Refurbishing my old iPod touch 2 mc model

I have a iPod touch 2 MC model and I am trying to figure out how I can make it so it is actually usable and functioning. It turns on and has all the original apps however, it cannot connect to modern Wi-Fi or I can access the Internet from it. I’m looking to reprogram it or make it so that I can give it to my sister for music and for games if anyone can help I would be so grateful. I have an old MacBook, which I have seen is required to do something like this but all the videos that I’m seeing have stated that the method won’t work on the MC model and I’m just trying to figure this out.
