June 12, 2026 the RP is 128 years old
Tomorrow June 12, 2026 we will be celebrating the 128th years of Philippine independence from colonial powers especially Spain. Would you agree aside from celebrating political independence we could also celebrate energy independence? Maybe not this year but in the coming years the Philippines could celebrate energy independence and not rely on other countries for our energy and electricity need.
The Philippines is bless with so much resources especially geothermal, solar, and ocean waves. We need to harness them all to lower our energy and electricity. We should stop being dependent on one source of energy like what has happened in the past. Today oil and fossil fuel generate almost 80% of our energy and electricity needs. A diversified sources of energy must be the main focus of the Philippines Department of Energy.
Renewable energy is the buzz word and also zero carbon energy. So if it's truly a zero carbon and baseload energy then nuclear must also be included in this mix of energy sources. More and more young Filipinos are open to explore and is very much interested in looking into nuclear energy.
