Most people never touch custom instructions — it's the difference between an okay bot and your bot
Quick one today, because I keep seeing this in how people set things up.
When you build a chatbot in RagmyAI, almost everyone does step one: upload the docs. That's the what it knows part. But there's a second lever most people never pull — custom instructions. That's the how it answers part, and it changes the experience more than you'd expect.
A few lines is all it takes. Things like: "Keep answers under three sentences unless I ask for detail." Or "Always answer in plain English, no jargon." Or for a public-facing bot: "If the question isn't covered in the documents, say so and suggest emailing support — don't guess."
That last one matters a lot if you've shared your bot's link or embedded it somewhere. Without it, the bot tries to be helpful about everything. With it, it stays in its lane.
My rule of thumb: docs decide what it knows, instructions decide how it behaves. Most "my bot is kind of meh" problems I hear about are actually a missing instruction, not a missing document.
Have you written any instructions for yours? Curious what lines people have added — I want to steal the good ones.
