A few months ago, I had one of those moments where I realized I was spending more time organizing work than actually doing work.
I’d sit down to handle something simple and somehow end up bouncing between tabs, dashboards, files, notes, content calendars, SEO tools, and random workflow systems for hours before finishing a single meaningful task.
At first, I thought the problem was discipline or time management.
But after a while, I realized the bigger issue was that I had slowly built an overly complicated system around myself.
Every new platform promised to improve productivity, automate work, or make things more efficient. Individually, most of them were useful. Together, though, everything started feeling fragmented and mentally exhausting.
The strange part is that the more “optimized” my workflow became, the less focused I actually felt.
A few months ago, I started simplifying everything aggressively. Fewer tools, fewer moving parts, fewer unnecessary systems.
Ironically, that’s when I started getting more done.
I’m curious if other entrepreneurs here have gone through something similar.
Have you found yourself simplifying your workflow over time, or do you still prefer larger systems with more automation and features?
