PC freezing/crashing with loud fans
So my PC worked perfectly well until last week; I didn’t use it for around a month and when I booted it up everything went well for a couple minutes before freezing, loud GPU fans and black screen.
After that, sometimes it would just freeze without a black screen and no loud fans. I thought it could be dust accumulation so I cleaned it but it kept doing it (without even gaming so I doubt it’s about temps since HW monitor showed nothing wrong).
I did every test I could think of hardware wise: OCCT, Benchmarks, ran tests in command to see if everything was healthy, checked my drives health, DDU’d, rollbacked to older GPU drivers, etc.
I sort of figured it could have to do with my GPU socket since the lock is broken on it; even if it was screwed in tight with a bracket supporting it I still unscrewed it and reseated it which fixed the issue for a couple days.
Today, I noticed a red light on my GPU; read online that it could be because there was no sufficient power so I checked the cables and everything was connected properly. So I unplugged and reseated it which worked for around 5 minutes before freezing to a black screen with loud fans.
I waited a couple minutes with the PC turned off and the red light disappeared; now the PC is on and everything seems normal (so far since I have no way to test it and see if it’s fixed or not).
So now I’m left to wonder, could all of this be caused by the GPU not being locked in even though it’s perfectly screwed in with brackets supporting it?
I’m at the point to start wondering if I should completely change my MOBO and upgrade my 13600k to a 9800X3D while being there.
Any thoughts on the matter could really help and I appreciate and thank anyone taking the time to reply!
