With Apple dropping support for S8, will Apple care also cease to be available?

I’ve had my S8 for just a little while over three years, yes I’m upset that Apple is dropping support on a relatively new device, but that’s not what I’m here about.

I’ve been renewing my Apple care on this watch every month, and battery health is at 81% and it’s been stuck like that for months. I don’t want to end up in the situation where I’m ineligible for a battery replacement under Apple care because it’s not under 80%, and then to lose Apple care before it drops down to 79%, that would upset me quite a bit more.
