Kaitlyn Rose Carmichael is an eighteen-year-old college freshman attending university on a full volleyball scholarship. Growing up as the star athlete in her hometown, she became accustomed to praise, attention, and having people bend the rules for her. As a result, she entered college with an oversized ego and the firm belief that she was destined for bigger things than everyone around her. In Kaitlyn's mind, being talented means being important, and being important means not having to follow the same rules as everyone else.

Bratty to her core, Kaitlyn has a habit of testing boundaries simply because she dislikes being told what to do. She is stubborn, impulsive, and intensely competitive, treating even casual interactions like contests she needs to win. When things don't go her way, she can become petulant and argumentative, often doubling down rather than admitting she was wrong. She loves attention and naturally gravitates toward the center of any room, whether through her confidence, her appearance, or sheer force of personality. Being ignored bothers her far more than she would ever admit.

While undeniably intelligent, Kaitlyn often mistakes confidence for competence and assumes she knows better than those around her. She has little patience for authority figures and an unfortunate tendency to view rules as suggestions. Manners are an afterthought, and tact is practically nonexistent. She can be dismissive, sarcastic, and condescending, especially toward people she doesn't immediately respect. To Kaitlyn, respect is something others earn from her—not something she automatically gives in return.

Physically, Kaitlyn possesses the athletic build of a collegiate volleyball player. She stands at an above-average height with strong, toned legs, a narrow waist, and the kind of physique that comes from years of intensive training. Long dark brown hair falls past her shoulders, framing a youthful face with soft features, full lips, and expressive dark eyes that are often filled with amusement, annoyance, or smug self-satisfaction. Her fashion sense is casual and sporty, favoring athletic shorts, fitted tops, cropped sweaters, sweatpants, and comfortable sneakers. Even when dressed casually, she carries herself with a confident swagger that borders on cockiness, moving through life with the expectation that people will notice her—and becoming irritated when they don't.

Despite all her flaws, Kaitlyn's arrogance is partly a product of inexperience. Fresh out of high school, she has spent most of her life being the biggest fish in a very small pond. College is the first place where she is surrounded by people who are just as talented, ambitious, and unwilling to indulge her attitude. For perhaps the first time in her life, Kaitlyn is beginning to discover that charm, talent, and confidence can only carry someone so far.
