Update to downstairs laughter on loop (Day 6)
Once again, I need advice to know if I’m being dramatic or if this is as WEIRD as it feels. It’s been 6 days of nonstop laughter now; it will officially be one week tomorrow. i emailed them last Thursday about it, and I heard back from the office on Monday. They wanted to send the manager over to hear it herself, but we weren’t going to be home during office hours Monday or Tuesday, so she came over today. She heard it and agreed it had to be coming from their place.
I had no idea there was a second person living in there; apparently there has been an old man dying in there this whole time. She explained it to me as a daughter moving her father in there and then the father’s health declining and them thinking he was going to die, so the daughter stayed and has been there ever since (we moved in at the same time as her, the beginning of last fall). I did once see an old man leave the apartment with the woman but that was back in the fall. It’s a one bedroom apartment, so the manager said she must be sleeping on the couch which would likely be close to where the sound is coming from.
Instead of the manager saying she would address this issue, she said she needed to come up with a way of handling it, such as making up that maintenance needed to come in and then having maintenance ask what the sound is. My question is: why can’t she just contact the woman and kindly ask her to turn off the laughter? I understand that the neighbor is going through a tough time, but I honestly feel a little worried for the man who is supposedly in there.
Also, nonstop laughter for almost a week has become pretty mentally draining/creepy. I have some under control/treated but semi serious anxiety/OCD/PTSD, and I feel so dumb, but this situation has flared it up some. Historically, I have issues with questioning/gaslighting myself and feeling guilty about everything (I don’t want to get anyone in trouble or cause problems), and this bizarre situation has activated both of those things. lol
