Very Short Phone Screen (Am I Cooked?)
I just had a phone screen interview with a recruiter from a multi-state Law Firm. The role is for a Legal Assistant position and the call lasted not even 4 minutes. All the recruiter asked was "Tell me about yourself," gave me info about the role that was in the job description, asked if I lived in the area of the office I applied to and could commute to the location daily, and what my salary expectations were. I had a list of potential answers ready to go but ended up stuttering through my educational and work background and that I was flexible for compensation as long as it was within the market range. All they said in response is "those are all the questions I have for you, I will pass your application along to the hiring manager and contact you about next steps." They didn't even ask me if I have any questions, so I'm feeling a bit confused and discouraged.
As an aside, I had a phone screening with this firm last week for a different role that I was overqualified for, and the call lasted like 15-20 minutes and went through all the standard preliminary questions I was expecting and I still wasn't moved on to the next round. So, I don't know if it's good or bad that this recruiter barely gave me the time of day.
