Hot take: I think Super Metroid SHOULD get a remake

Discussion

I was pretty disappointed they didn't announce anything Metroid-related in the recent Direct considering this year is Metroid's 40th anniversary (hopefully they'll do something for it next year; Metroid 1 came out in the US in 1987), and while I'd like to see Metroid 6 as much as the rest of you (I think it might be a little too soon for Prime 5, but I want to see that too), I was mostly hoping for a Super Metroid remake. Don't get me wrong, Super Metroid is excellent already, but I personally think the GBA/MercurySteam-styled controls, with only one aim button and R to toggle missiles, are a better control scheme, and I'd imagine it'd look and sound AWESOME with 2.5D graphics and modern audio. I know there are a lot of people who don't think a remake is necessary, but remaking the game won't ruin or get rid of the original, and if they prefer the original, they can just play the original.
