A quiet voice
Haunting my dreams
Waking me
I can’t quite make it out
Just below my consciousness

Muffled echos
Thrumming in my thoughts
Days go by
Is it the voice in my head
Or is it the rhythm of my pounding heart
Which which is leading
Which is following

A song
A thought
A feeling

Is it you?
Are you coming back?
Do I need you?
Do I want you?

I can’t say I have missed your cooling touch.
I am afraid that your dark cloak is what I need.

I fear the comfort that you bring,
yet welcome the peace that hides
In your hypnotizing gazes

Counting
The pin pricks of light
With the folds of your shadowy presence.

Is it you?
Do I need you?
Do I want you?

Oft past you have been there.

Am I selfish to want you
To take me away
Bathe me in your chilling breath
Shroud me from the fires within and without

Is that you?
Bring forth the shadows
Heal me
Bring me peace
Bring me solitude
Numb me
As only you can

Or

Turn around and walk away.
Don’t tease me in my sleep
Don’t stalk me keeping me in wonder.

Is that you?

Eve!

Show yourself,
Take away this wonder.
