No notice of entry and removal of washer / dryer [SC]

I am transferring units on the 12th and my lease ends on the 17th. Tonight (the 10th) I came home and found that the washer and dryer I’ve been renting through my apartment complex were gone. I had a load of laundry in the dryer that was also gone. No other valuables were missing and the door was locked so I don’t think it was a break in.

I pay an extra $55 per month for my washer and dryer. I looked at my lease and the washer / dryer addendum says that the washer and dryer will be provided for the entire term of the lease and that the resident is responsible of cleaning the machines before vacating. My lease also states that they must give at least a 24 hour notice before entering. There was no notice of entering or early removal of my washer and dryer. I have a cat who was not secured. Thankfully she wasn’t hurt and didn’t escape.

The office was closed so I emailed them asking for my clothes and the washer and dryer back. I was about to sign my new lease but then this happened. Is there anything I can do to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again?
