A diff take on Octane Learning
a new owner and the last few nights I've been going on a late night highway running to OL my car which - murderers on gas and time because I have to go kind of far and it seems to take me two tries most of the time
BUT
This car goes from good performance to great performance imo.
I had noticed before that though the EN felt much faster than my Va wrx except oddly enough in Third gear I felt my subie had more oomph and that the EN was a little lacking in this spot.
This is where OL make the biggest difference - the top of 3rd was now punchy.
The Verdict: Hyundais gate kept octane learning system is a design fail-
That being said if you can - you def should. For me it's currently worth sacrificing a quarter tank of gas but I also do a lot of driving just for fun and the car is new to me still.
There are a lot of posts saying to forget about OL and to me there's a hint of cope in some of these posts.
Anyway, to anyone researching this issue I hope this serves as a useful data point.
TLDR: It's like a tune you've alread paid for and that's covered by warranty.
