I pulled what every Bakersfield hospital actually charges for common medical procedures, the price gaps are wild.

Insurers are legally required to publish their negotiated rates with hospitals (Transparency in Coverage Act), but they bury it in massive, nearly impossible to access files. So I scraped millions of these pricing data points across California.

Interesting findings from colonoscopy pricing data in Bakersfield:

- A colonoscopy in Bakersfield ranges from $1,235 to $12,065.

- The 3-star Mercy Hospital Downtown charges $5,873, while the equally rated 3-star Adventist Health Specialty charges $12,065.
