I accidentally went into a woman's bookstore.

Couple days ago I wanted to try out this new coffee place in my city. I had heard it was good. This is flyover country, so it used to be a Blue Lives Matter themed coffee place (not kidding), but that one went out of business and now it's a new, unrelated joint. At least, I hope they're unrelated!

Anyway, so I saw there was a bookstore that opened up in the same little strip so after I finished my coffee and took my steaming coffee shit, I went over and checked it out. However, once I got in it was clear that this bookstore was simply not for me. Five Mormon women immediately locked their eyes on the intruder, me. "Hello, have you been here before?"

It wasn't a very large bookstore and one of the mormons gave me a tour. "This is the Romantasy section, here are the cozy mysteries..."

I knew beforehand the bookstore was genre focused but I didn't think it would be such a narrow and specific version of those genres. All the fantasy novels were titled "Throne of Crowns and Boners", and none of the books had boobs, dragons, swords, or evil wizards on the covers. Have you heard of this cozy fantasy shit? Don't even get me started.

No Elmore Leonard, but plenty of "Lady Detective Wendy Wigglesbottom and the Case of the Curious Crows".

In ten years these are going to be the only kinds of books they publish anymore. You'll have to talk to cops about your collection of problematic literature. Tittybabies will call you a walking red flag. First degree yucking someone's yum will be a capital offense.

Anyway, I bought a Clive Barker novel because support local independent women booksellers or some shit.
