Description: The Kanto Gauntlet is a luck-meets-strategy team drafting game inspired by 82-0.com. A slot machine assigns each of your six team slots a random Pokémon type — water, ghost, dragon, whatever it lands on — and deals you a hand of Pokémon of that type. You pick one per slot, but you don't get to browse the full roster: you draft from what you're dealt. You get exactly one type switch and one re-deal per run, so spending them at the right moment is most of the strategy. Once your team of six is locked, a calibrated simulation engine runs you through all thirteen Kanto boss battles — eight Gym Leaders, the Elite Four, and the Champion — showing your win probability for each fight. One loss ends the run. Toggles let you allow legendaries or restrict the pool to specific generations (single-gen runs get brutal). The whole game runs inside a cloud database: every query, stat, and even the pixel sprites are served live from SQL. 13-0 is possible, but most teams die at the Elite Four. It's a fan project, not affiliated with Nintendo, Game Freak, or The Pokémon Company.

Involvement: Solo project. I designed the game concept and mechanics, built and calibrated the simulation engine (win-probability formula, difficulty curve), and assembled the dataset. I built it using AI-assisted development on MotherDuck's Dives platform — I directed the design and iterated on every mechanic; the AI agent wrote much of the code against my database. It's also my entry in MotherDuck's DiveMaxxing data-viz competition.
