My sister makes my niece go to school sick, doesn’t take her temperature all day and tells her soda will make her feel better

For some background info: my sister is younger than me but has a six year old and is pregnant w her new boyfriend’s baby. I still live at home and I’m still working on a degree so she thinks I’m not as responsible or successful. She lowkey doesn’t like me, so if I tried talking to her about anything or suggest any change in her parenting style, it would start an argument that lasts days and she’d tell me to fuck off

My niece is sick right now. Whenever she’s sick my sister still sends her to school and I always end up having to pick her up and skip my classes. I got home from class today (I didn’t have to watch her bc my sister’s new bf just moved up with us and doesn’t have a job yet) and my niece was crying a lot and in a lot of pain, more uncomfortable and hotter than yesterday or this morning. I asked if the fever broke at all throughout the day and they said they didn’t take her temperature at all since they’ve been home, they just threw her in the bath once she woke up hot.

She didn’t want to eat but I ordered some fruit and was thinking about how when I’m having trouble eating my safety food is fruit. So I looked up if it was good for kids with fevers and yes they are and the water content in them helps the kids heal up. So I offered her my fruit and she said yes and ate it. My sister told her to rinse her mouth with soda and that if she drinks enough soda it’ll tickle then make her feel better? Soda will actually dehydrate and the extra sugar and caffeine isn’t great either …. She told my niece to heal up so she can go to her friends house after school tomorrow… idk about you but I don’t think she should go to school tomorrow let alone a friends house TT TT

I get so frustrated when I see how people are taking care of their kids these days … Not reading to them, no sleep regulation, no food variety except for what the baby /wants/ to eat, at school sick, etc etc….

Ugh mildly infuriating -.-
