๐Ÿ‘‹ Welcome - compare EF, Explorica, ACIS, Passports, WorldStrides, and other student tour companies here

Welcome to r/StudentGroupTravel

Educational travel can be life-changing โ€” but choosing, planning, and running a student tour can also be confusing.

This community is for honest discussion about school trips, student tours, and teacher-led educational travel. Whether you are a teacher planning your first trip, a parent trying to understand what you are paying for, a student who just got back from Europe, a tour director, or someone who works in the industry, you are welcome here.

This is a place to talk openly about companies like EF Tours, Explorica, ACIS, Passports, WorldStrides, and other student travel providers. The goal is not to promote one company over another. The goal is to help people compare real experiences, ask better questions, and understand what actually makes a student trip successful.

Good topics for discussion include:

  • Reviews of student tour companies
  • Comparing EF, Explorica, ACIS, Passports, WorldStrides, and others
  • Pricing, value, and what is or is not included
  • Tour directors and on-tour support
  • Hotels, meals, buses, flights, and logistics
  • Safety, supervision, and emergency response
  • Itinerary quality and educational value
  • Recruiting students and communicating with parents
  • Fundraising and payment plans
  • What teachers wish they knew before leading a trip
  • What parents and students should ask before signing up
  • The difference between a good trip and a disappointing one

A few basic expectations:

Be honest. Firsthand experiences are especially valuable.

Be specific. โ€œThe trip was badโ€ is less useful than explaining what happened, when it happened, and how the company handled it.

Be fair. Every company has great trips and imperfect trips. Try to separate one-off problems from patterns.

Disclose affiliations. If you work for, represent, sell for, or have a financial connection to a travel company, please say so when commenting on that company.

No personal attacks. Criticize companies, policies, pricing, itineraries, and decisions โ€” not individual teachers, students, parents, or tour directors.

The hope is that this subreddit becomes a useful place for real conversation about student group travel: the good, the bad, the expensive, the inspiring, the chaotic, and the unforgettable.

To get started, introduce yourself or post a question.

Teachers: What company have you traveled with, and would you use them again?

Parents: What do you wish had been clearer before you signed your child up?

Students: What made your trip amazing โ€” or frustrating?

Industry folks: What do you think people misunderstand most about educational travel?
