Ditched my terrible plastic tattoo kit, ordered a whole new setup that’s still shipping—what core beginner prep should I do while waiting?

Question

Hey everyone, I’m completely new to tattooing.

I briefly tried learning with a cheap plastic pen before, and the experience was pretty terrible, so I saved up and ordered a proper rotary set which hasn’t arrived yet.

I want to make good use of the waiting time instead of sitting around doing nothing, so I’m here to ask for all-around beginner advice.

I want to start practicing seriously every day, but I’m really unsure where to begin. I’ve watched a few tutorials online, but there’s so much information I don’t know what to focus on first.

I’d really appreciate any tips you can share: What basic drills should I master at the very start? How do I get steady, clean lines consistently? Are there any small essential supplies I haven’t thought of yet that make practice smoother? Also, how long should I practice each day without hurting my hands or picking up bad habits?
