White people should engage mote in race politics
People always say race politics is bad right up until every group except white people starts engaging in it.
Every ethnic, racial, religious, and cultural group is expected to advocate for its interests, build institutions, vote as a bloc when it benefits them, and discuss issues that affect their communities. That's considered normal. But when white people do the same thing, suddenly it's treated as uniquely suspicious or taboo.
You don't have to hate anyone to care about your own community. You don't have to believe you're superior to anyone to want your concerns represented. Politics is ultimately about interests, priorities, and the future of the society you live in.
The reality is that telling one group to stay out of identity politics while everyone else participates isn't ending identity politics. It's just asking one side to voluntarily disarm.
If race-conscious politics is acceptable, then it has to be acceptable for everyone. If it's not acceptable, then it shouldn't be acceptable for anyone. And yes this is about the Belfast protests
