Experience with EducateVA Career Switcher Program
Looking for others who have gone through the EducateVA teacher training program for career switchers. I'm considering starting this program next year, and am wondering if others thought that it was effective training for a new teacher? (From talking with teachers, I realize that a lot of it will come with learning on the job, but I'd like to start with a reasonable level of preparation - as much as possible.)
Also interested in approximate time commitments needed to complete the coursework? I was hoping for rough estimates of hours per week, though I know that might vary quite a bit person to person.
I know about the in-person meeting requirements and the 40 hour field placement, but I wasn't sure how many additional hours of online classes? (and if some of those online classes could be completed on the metro or even listening while driving, or if they are the sort of thing where you need to be sitting down at an actual computer interacting with screens?
Another redditor mentioned 50 homework assignments in addition to the clasess, so that would work out to 2-3 per week. Does that seem about right?
