Essences

What is the difference between Soul essence and Spirit essence. These two things have been pegging me throughout the novel, and I still haven't gotten a clear answer.

Best guess I have is soul essence is to power yourself, and spirit essence is your Domain and Will.

If anyone knows the true answer, please tell me.
