Nikon AF600 shutter firing and wasting a frame everytime battery is inserted

i have a newly bought nikon af600 which automatically fires its shutter and advances to the next frame everytime a battery is inserted (as i remove the battery when i don't expect to be using it), so far it has wasted 2 of my frames, and now i store it with the battery inserted to prevent future wastage of my film.

have y'all experienced this with the same camera? should i return it to the seller?
