Shaolin problem and Solution

Discussion

This is a Shaolin Re-rework
Please comment your thoughts.

Before we start some key elements here
👇
•Sweep mix up changed
•Removed forward bash (But…)
•Can faint into QI Stance
•You can still dodge and deflect while in QI stance.
•Top light which is enhanced continues the same.

Note: I am a Shaolin main.
What i believe this RE-rework does is get rid of the sweep mix up problem and monkey brain that comes with it.
Making so that stylish plays now requires more knowledge on the character.
Please stick with the reading…
We can always tune down this idea of Shaolin i’m about to present. I don’t want to powerscale the guy just because i play him… So give me ideas

Let’s start

•Light and heavy chain loop stays the same.

•Heavy finisher is now unblockable (It won’t flow back into QI stance. But Shaolin could always faint into QI stance and keep the mix up).
Letting the heavy finisher unblockable fly means committing because you won’t flow back but, it pays with good damage. It also puts him on par with other heroes. Which i believe one of his problems is his infinite combos. They have to end somewhere like most heroes. But he still has an option to get back to it.
Fainting into QI stance seems fair to me. And when he let’s it fly, it is over.

•Qi stance kick stays the same with the old sweep (Unfeintable) as an option to follow up after the kick. It is much faster and chains into a heavy unblockable (Same animation on current sweep but unblockable. Efficient to target swap in team fights and does okay damage (but we will need to further discuss numbers) > Flows back into Qi Stance or follow up light attack.

•The kick if dodged can be guard broken by the opponent.
Shaolin can’t follow up a light attack after a missed kick (like in the current game).
But he CAN follow up with his heavy unblockable after a missed sweep.
And the same heavy can be fainted.
Yes it will chain > To His finisher unblockable.
(That’s why discussing the numbers on his unblockable after the sweep is important. If you dodge the sweep, you’ll be facing two unblockables coming your way. But at the same time, his second unblockable will end his chain anyway.
The unblockable after sweep keeps the mix up going but the damage can’t be high because his finisher already does that job.

•QI Stance light attacks from all three sides chains into his finisher unblockable or chains into his follow up light attack. And remains with Crushing Counter property. (Note: Some people may find chaining a QI light attack into a light follow up a bit frustrating because of the pressure. My main goal with this change was to help Shaolin better handle and target swap when fighting 2 or more people. I’m open to discussion regarding this change and i would let it out if enough said no).

•Qi stance heavy attacks stays the same as undodgeable > Chains into his heavy finisher unblockable.

Remember Shaolin’s only bash is inside his QI stance now. So to give him opening he can faint into his QI stance.

Mix up example…

Double tap side light (Enters QI Stance) > Heavy QI stance (undodgeable) > faint into Qi stance >

> QI stance kick top light > Chain heavy finisher unblockable, let’s it fly.
