**“It Was Never Courage. It Was Always Theater.”**

When Democrats were in office, every policy disagreement was treated like the first act of a revolution.

Healthcare? Tyranny.
School lunches? Tyranny.
Environmental regulation? Tyranny.
A Black president existing near the levers of power? Apparently enough to launch a thousand “molon labe” fantasies.

They called it patriotism.
They called it resistance.
They called it “Second Amendment remedies.”

But most of it was armed cosplay against a perceived enemy.

Now actual authoritarianism is no longer theoretical. Surveillance, obedience politics, masked enforcement, gutted oversight, billionaire-backed government, and the dismantling of public protections are not paranoid Facebook rumors anymore. They are happening in real time, often cheered on by the same people who once claimed they were ready to resist tyranny at all costs.

So where did all that revolutionary courage go?

In this episode of **The Cogs in the Dissonance**, Mrs. Cog smiles at the fantasy of resistance, the guns, the flags, the driveway militia theater, but snarls when that fantasy collapses into its real-world form:

A mild tax protest from the kitchen table.

Because when the threat was imaginary, it was hero time.

But when power became real, the rebellion shrank into paperwork, grumbling, and refund-season bravado.

It was never courage.

It was always theater.
