Gf said something during. AIO?

So gf and I were in the middle of having sex, and she said, "You're handsome."

And I responded, "you're sexy."

Then a little while later I said, "Do you find me sexy?" (In a sexy talk kind of way)

And she says, "I basically just told you that, you're just trying to feed your ego."

To me those words have very different meanings, and I wasn't trying to feed my ego, I was only wanting some input because she really struggles with any sort of communication about sex. AIO for thinking that's kind of a rude thing to say?
