What’s up with these, where can I educate myself to avoid stuff like this?

Misc

Sorry in advance. In the 1980s my mother bought a newly built house for its size in anticipation of children.

My father put his name on the house too, in case only a woman, wouldn’t make the purchase viable. My parents got the house but my dad lost his disability money. Paralyzed arm and face, before he worked as a waiter making enough money to sustain 3 big dogs, training for them and competing.

Years later, they sold that house for an older house near a school. In the same month, my dad got hospitalized and more paralyzed. It’s lost in translation but my mom says she had to sell our jewelry and take out some money from the her death insurance to pay the mortgage?

The Sunlife person today, said something like; if you pay 105$ monthly, the div- the interest won’t grow, on top of the 35$. They kept switching dividend, interest and premium.

So like the losing disability money part for example… Where do I start and learn?
