What can you realistically do if other trans people can't signpost

Trigger Warning: Transphobia

I kinda feel like my back is against the wall a bit. See, I've experienced so much transphobia (I do live in NI, which is obviously a part of big bad Terf Island) that I don't attend a place unless another trans person has been there and basically can vouch for it.

Is this bar friendly? Well half a dozen trans women said it's alright, so let's go!

I'm scared to get my hair cut because people have given me botched jobs due to a "You boy, so I cut your hair like one" mindset. Well, there's a place your close friend recommended.

Is this tattoo artist friendly? Is this place of work friendly? Is this area of town safe? Is this queer space actually safe for trans women or does it just pretend? etc etc etc

It's kinda how I've been running things for the past few years. Especially with transphobia becoming socially "acceptable"

But the problem is that sometimes other trans people can't signpost to what you need as somewhere friendly because they literally don't know.

Recently, a lot of bad things have happened. Riots in NI have me a bit scared and as I was posting about last week, I did almost go bald in an incident that's kinda left me shaken up. To top things off, it's also approaching the anniversary of some not so good stuff.

So I do what I always do when I'm shaken up and upset. Tried to go in for a beauty appointment. I find it helps, like a lot.

However, the only person in all of NI that I know to be friendly, quit. And I called up a queer organisation, I asked trans people online. Nobody had any ideas about alternatives. None.

At that point, what do you even do?

It's not the first time I've had to turn to asking other trans people for a trans-friendly venue or support group or say, somewhere for beauty and have come up short because nobody knows.

Do you just give up? Or is there another way?
