Help with the verb to "speak"

My current learning media is Living Languages books and audio published in 2012.

In the audio it says the conjugation of to speak is akalam, takalam, yakalam etc. Instead of atakalam, tatakalam, yatakalam... Is there a difference in meaning or formality or is it most likely an error?
