As the title states this will be a how to guide on adding factory like ambient lighting to your fusion. This guide is mainly for the 2nd gen fusions but if you can get it work on the 1st gen then props. This will involve extensive wiring but can be done if you have the time and patience. It’s not as scary as it seems.

For staters you’ll need the modules plus the harness shown in the picture. This can easily be found at your local junkyard for cheap. From any 2010-12 fusion or any 2010-12 escape. The modules will be located under the cupholders in both vehicles. 2nd you’ll need the led pods also shown above the module. I grabbed a total of 18. 2 for each door. 2 for the tray under the screen. 2 for the cup holders and 2 for the rear foot wells. And 2 for the front foot wells but you can grab as many or as little as you’d like depending on where you want to place them.

On the gray connector the wires sticking out are the only ones you’ll need. Black will be for ground which you can ground to one of the two bolts shown in the picture. It’s located behind the drivers side panel. The green wire will be 12v. I hooked mine up to the headlights but any consistent 12 v will work. The blue wire will be for switch illumination. It’s unused in my set up as I have my own switch.

I couldn’t get the switch that comes with the harness to work. Instead I used a momentary switch with the yellow/green wire shown on the black connector hooked up to one end and then I split another wire from the 12v source and got the button to function as normal.

To add more led pods just tap in the extra ones you pulled to the correct wire blue for blue green for green etc. all other wires are essentially unused.

Setup is from my 2014 fusion. Results are from the 2017 fusion as to how it looks. I did it to both fusions and results are the same.

Locations I used: footwells (x2) door pockets and door handles for all 4 doors. Behind the center console for the rear seats. Any momentary switch will work.

This will involve running wires through the doors if you choose to go add it to the doors. I ran a wire from the headlight plug though the fender to the inside for 12v. If you don’t care about it looking clean you can run the wires through the weather seal into the inside that way you aren’t missing with the main door harness boot and running down the A and B pillars. I close to run down the A and B pillars in my 2017 because I wanted it as clean as possible I tapped the rear doors into the front doors to cut down on the wiring. The module is tucked away under the cupholders. Any questions? I’ll try and answer them.
