course in progress

If I have one course remaining for my pre-req which is Orgo 2 with the lab, would it be bad to take it in fall and it end in December or is it better for me to take it now during this summer? Does that affect my application in any way having 1 course in progress and submitting before i take it? My DAT will be taken before then
