Is third-party testing necessary for every baby product category?

Question - Research required

I am going to be a mom and to be honest every product that I have been buying recently I always ensure that it will be safe .I don't want my baby boy to be hurt so before I bought things like the crib and the car seat I read into their safety standards to know whether they have been tested enough for them deemed safe. While obviously I'm on board with the rigorous third party testing for them ,I'm starting to wonder whether they over test some of the baby products .Don't get me wrong I want my baby to be safe but I am also starting to feel the burden on my wallet and in this economy I am wondering If lower risk items like non-organic swaddles

and basic rattles also require the expensive, full scale third party certification because it does drive up the cost of such items.Making baby products a bit expensive, or am I overthinking it?
