Liking a shy guy as a shy girl

Okay so I have a crush on this dude that seems to be mutual (according to his whole friend group and to how he acts around me, but I can't be 100% sure) and the main problem is that we're both shy, so nobody is making the first move. I'm more bold than him so I start conversations with him, I make jokes and yesterday he kinda talked to me first for the first time. The "biggest move" he makes is to be near me among all the people of the group. Everutime i go out with thia friend group i can hear someone encourage the guy to come talk to me and his friends told me to ask him out but I literally can't do it, i'm too awkward and I don't feel doing it since I don't have the certainty he likes me (even if everybody around him tells me so... his friends even wanted to show me his texts where he talks about how beautiful I am). I'm scared this situation will die before anything happens between us so I came here to hear impartial voices that aren't affiliated with me or him, so what should I do? Should I, at least, text him? I'm becoming desperate and i'm also scared🫠🫠🫠
