7 weeks post sprain. MRI results in. ATFL and CFL injury with incomplete scar remodeling. Surgery likely?
7 weeks post sprain. Swelling still present but considerably less. Per the MRI:
- ATFL and CFL injury with incomplete scar remodeling.
- Osseous contusions in the talus and sustentaculum tali. More localized marrow edema at the posterior lateral talar dome is likely also a contusion however could represent developing osteochondral lesion.
- Deltoid ligament sprain with incomplete scar remodeling.
- Peroneus brevis split tear at the retromalleolar groove with peroneal tenosynovitis.
- Mild to moderate hindfoot soft tissue edema.
Still not weight bearing. Pain 2-8/10 depending on the day and what I have done. Worse in the AM when I wake up and if I do anything e.g rolling around on my knee scooter causes pain and swelling.
I have a follow up next week for review of MRI and next steps.
Wasn't expecting 3 ligaments and a tendon tear. Wondering if he'll want to take a more conservative approach and still monitor or go for surgery given that it's been almost 2 months - and will be 2 months by the time I see him again.
