4 weeks post-op — what did PWB to FWB actually look like for you and when could you just walk to dinner?
Hi! I’m 4 weeks post-op today from Lisfranc ORIF. I had 2 screws placed and my joints were preserved.
I keep reading posts about people going from partial weight bearing to full weight bearing, and then eventually from the boot to a sneaker. I know everyone’s injury/surgery/protocol is different and I’m not trying to ignore my surgeon.
Like, once you were cleared to start putting weight on it, how fast did you actually progress? I’ve seen some people say they moved from PWB to FWB in a few days or within the first week, and others took it way slower because of pain/swelling/confidence.
I live in a city, so “walking” is not just pacing around my apartment. It’s sidewalks, curbs, stairs, uneven ground, people, etc. I’m trying to understand when things like this became realistic:
- When could you walk around your apartment in the boot?
- When could you go outside in the boot?
- When could you walk a few blocks?
- When could you do something normal like walk to dinner or walk to get your nails done or walk to get some groceries?
I know it depends and I’m going to follow my doctor’s protocol, I’m just going a little stir crazy and trying to understand what the real life transition felt like for people. Thank you ❤️
